Just watched, The Xmas/NewYear special Doctor Who 'End of Time' part 1 & 2, It was pretty good, a little formulaic, but enjoyable. There was oen like i liked but its a bit spoilery for those 2.5 people i know who are likely to care but have not already seen it.

And watched the road earlier today, it was pretty good Im wondering if i would have liked it more or less having not seen the book. I think i would have muzzled the kid. but other than that I cant complain.

Still trying to findout what theaters will be showing "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" sometime after the 8th, none of the theaters are reporting it to Fandango, Movietimes, or Aol-movies, It does not look to be the Guild or the SWFC. Normally I would just chill and wait, but here is this person with whom I want to invite, and I want to give her as much lead time as possible. GaH!! I suppose I should just email her and let her know that is the theoretical plan, and if it falls through have a backup.

[i]ilcylic: New shirts

I got a lot of clamor for shirts with the slogan from my last post.

Unfortunately, I just don't have the energy to set it up, get 'em printed, and ship them out. So I'm outsourcing that task to CafePress, which means y'all are going to get boned on the price if you want them.

Prices have no markup whatsoever. I'd have made them cheaper, but I can't. Sorry. :(

[info]callmesteam and some other people are making their "top [quantity] albums of the 00s" lists. I haven't bought or listened to very many albums in the last ten years, though, so I could only scrape together a top 5. So, here's my top 5 albums of the double-oughts, in no particular order:

Underworld - A Hundred Days Off
Thievery Corporation - The Richest Man in Babylon
Daft Punk - Discovery
Yuzo Koshiro - Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 OST
Kylie Minogue - Fever

honorable mention goes to:

Paul Starr - In Lieu of Talent

Perhaps this will give people who have been asking about my musical tastes some insight into my musical tastes. Also, in case anyone's wondering, my favorite album EVAR is Underworld's "Beaucoup Fish", which came out in 1999 and thus, sadly, missed being in this list.

Just finished watching "The lives of others" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405094/ I quite liked it, I guess a story about good people even in the Stasi can uplift your spirits about the world at large. Its well done!

Interesting post-apocalyptic dreams. Things were not all dire and madmaxy, just kinda more like my childhood, kinda remote ans having to be inventive and pretty self sufficient.

As dreams are lots of the details were sketchy, but we found/had a plot of land, that had a bit of a canyon blocking it off from the highway, on it was a big shop with a rail line going through one side, our group had an old steam engine it was working on getting going. We had a front end loader they used to move the train back and forth as it was being worked on, and some diesel, but were busy cultivating a neglected orchard of olive trees in the hopes of a good crop of olive oil the next year. My job was to scrounge up needed parts for to keep everything else running. Everyone was industrious and everyone was pretty happy. We also kept having to move cars around which was more easy than normal cars but often involved pushing them up huge hills. so i invented yokes so we could drag them (so fewer people would get run over if they lost their footings.

Eventually for some reason a group of us needed to go into town to find someone, It turned out to be a gorgeous girl whom had a huge phalanx of security guards. we later found she was a princess, but in order to get a invite to meet with her we needed to know her name, but for some reason nobody in our group did. So my bright idea was to go scope out the nearby uniform makers shop. And see if we could social engineer out her name from the tailor. Which worked and we were getting her name just as my alarm clock went off.

I made it to 2010 and all I got from the SF books of my youth was the lousy dystopian government.

Well its not hard to say that even with its ups and downs and stresses and dispair, 2009 was far better than 2008!

Urbex fame, Photography, roadtrips, Job change, Sold Mom's house, State pen, Dated a bit, heart broke, clockpunked, car changed, new friends, old friends, weight loss, phone change(went from palm to android), PhotoShow, Press club Member, Networking with history buffs, ghost towns, science, geekery, and financial stability.

My trip was not intentionally, but sorta centered around photos, And while I have not had time to process and upload my trips photos, I di find myself reflectong back on two great collections of photos i got to see while there.

One was the quite understandably lauded Ansel Adams, the museum there had probably 60 large format prints that, many were ones i had not seen before, but they were quite lovely. I found it hard to critique his subject or technique, or processing decisions. I'm no expert in art, but I have an eye for what I like, and many of his works speak to me as they do many others.

The other Artist was John Gutmann His works were much smaller prints, smaller format camera too, but he took the other kind of photo I like, candid moments of things. All in all i liked his works, there were a few that I didn't like, or thought were just technically not up to snuff. A few others I looked at and thought I would have framed differently or cropped. I found this strange, and perhaps an evolution in my own craft im not sure ive really felt that way about an artshow before, usually its just a consumer grade "like or don't like", not a how it could be better. None the less i think they have both inspired me to some degree. not that I think that my trips photos really depict that too much.
